Junior Church

We are a lively and enthusiastic group of youngsters and leaders meeting to worship God every Sunday in the church hall, during the 10.00am service.  Our group is thriving and we generally meet in 2 groups of primary and secondary school age.

We have fun while exploring our faith and we enjoy lots of games and practical activities as we learn.  Each month we follow a biblical theme suggested in the SALT materials we follow, produced by Scripture Union.  Each age group is catered for with appropriate activities and supporting magazines.  Sometimes we help with worship in church by singing or telling a story through drama.

We love to welcome new members!  Just come along to church or ring Jackie Price (0121 777 8379) for more details.

JUNIOR CHURCH AND THE EUCHARIST

The Peace

If you went to junior church, you return at this point. The Eucharist is meal. We share it together and our fellowship grows. Before we share in the meal, we show a sign of peace to one another.  People often shake hands with the people around them.

Eucharistic Prayer

There are different Eucharistic prayers: look at the letter on the hymn numbers board to see which one.

The priest leading the service gives thanks and praise to God and s/he describes the day before Jesus was crucified (put on the cross) and how he gave the bread and wine to his followers (the Last Supper). The priest will consecrate the bread and the wine. This means they become Jesus’ body and blood. This is done because the night before Jesus died he told his disciples (his friends) that they should eat bread to represent his body and wine to represent his blood, and to do this in memory of him.

Communion

Most people will receive the bread and the wine, while some people, including most of the younger people, will receive a blessing at the altar.

Dismissal and Blessing

This is when the priest leading the service blesses the people in the church by asking God to be with them now and every day. Before leaving you may want to say a prayer.
